Wellbeing at North Gate British School

At North Gate British School, wellbeing sits at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that every individual is unique, and there is no single definition of what wellbeing should look like. Our aim is to ensure that every student is supported to f eel happy, safe and confident, enabling them to flourish both in and beyond the classroom. We are committed to discovering and nurturing the strengths and potential of every child, ensuring they are able to thrive as individuals. Wellbeing is not an add-on at North Gate—it is embedded within our culture, our curriculum and our daily interactions. We take a holistic approach to wellbeing, recognising that it is influenced by a range of interconnected factors. Through strong relationships, attentive pastoral care and a proactive approach, we continually monitor and support the needs of our students, ensuring the right support is in place at the right time.
At North Gate, we believe that for students to truly succeed, they must feel:

How We Support Students

At North Gate British School, wellbeing is intentionally woven into every aspect of school life. It is not a standalone initiative, but a core part of our culture, systems and daily practice. We take a proactive, informed approach—using insight and ongoing monitoring to ensure that the needs of every student are understood and supported effectively. Through all areas of school life, we create an environment where students and staff are empowered to thrive. At North Gate, we ensure that our community has opportunities to:

Access the care, guidance and support they need
Take ownership of their learning and personal development
Learn with meaning, purpose and clear direction
Feel included, valued and part of a strong community
Be heard, with their voice recognised and respected
Feel safe, confident and able to express themselves openly

Our strong pastoral systems, combined with a culture of kindness, care and respect, ensure that wellbeing is lived and experienced every day. Staff work closely with students and families to build positive relationships and provide the right support at the right time. By embedding wellbeing so deeply into our school, we create a community where students are not only successful learners, but also happy, resilient and confident individuals, fully prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
